Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday and to many, it means great food! Great food has always been a Thanksgiving meal tradition. Giving thanks over a wonderful Thanksgiving meal or dinner is always enjoyable. Here is my perfect Southern Thanksgiving meal menu and dinner ham joint leftovers.
ham in the slow cooker subs. You might call them hoagies, torpedoes, heroes, or poor-boys; but around here we call them subs (or submarines, if we’re being formal). It’s basically a glorified sandwich, but oh-so-delicious! Load up French bread with mayo, oil, tomato, lettuce, onion, hot peppers, and ham- viola!- what a treat! Forget about healthy and well-balanced here: serve with a side of chips and a pop!
For breakfast one can have two to three pieces of bread cooking ham and half a cup of cornflakes along with a cup of milk and one fruit a banana an apple or an orange For a varied taste one can substitute the cornflakes and milk with three to four slices of bacon.
Ham glazes can be made from many combinations of spices, foods and flavors. It is really a matter of personal choice and no choice is either wrong or right. The most important consideration of a glaze is that it is thick in order for it to not run off during cooking. Some popular ham glazes include orange glaze, apricot glaze, brown sugar honey glaze, pineapple glaze, cranberry glaze but you can use any combination to create a unique glaze you love.
Brush the christmas ham generously with 1/3 of the honey glaze and place it back into the oven for 15 minutes. The internal temperature should now be approaching 115 degrees.
A festive tablecloth can add a splash of color and style to your table. At this time of year the old fold-up tables are dusted off and pulled out of the garage, they can be dressed up and made to match the rest of your Thanksgiving holiday theme by purchasing several of the same or coordinating tablecloths.
Never let it be said that I am unable to learn from the past. This Easter, I’m serving Spam for dinner. I might even do what Radar O’Reilly did in an episode of M*A*S*H: To spare an innocent lamb from becoming dinner for Greek soldiers, he stole it and replaced it with Spam shaped like a lamb. Not only do I admire that kind of ingenuity, I look forward to working with my hands and Spam.
